Can the Peace Movement Win?
| the entire program
GUEST: Lawrence S. Wittner, Professor of History at the State University of New York/Albany, author of Toward Nuclear Abolition: A History of the World Nuclear Disarmament Movement, 1971 to the Present. He serves on the board of Peace Action
Two major newspapers over the weekend printed articles about the increasing influence of liberal and antiwar groups on the Democratic Party. The New York Times and the Washington Post wrote about regular meetings that antiwar coalition, Americans Against Escalation in Iraq, have with Democratic lawmakers to nudge the debate on troop withdrawal further to the left. But the war still has no end in sight. According to my guest, Lawrence S. Wittner, the antiwar movement has lacked organizational unity and clear focus. In a new article in Foreign Policy in Focus, Wittner outlines his ideas for How the Peace Movement Can Win.
