Obama-haters Can Now Play Out Their Wildest Fantasies Online
A golf country club near Boston this week was vandalized with the world “I” followed by an inside-out Swastika, followed by “Obama” carved into the grass near the 18th hole. It’s the latest salvo in the bizarre obsession among the group of Americans dubbed Obama-haters. But now, these Americans have the opportunity to realize their greatest fears and act out their wildest fantasies in a new online computer game called “2011: Obama’s Coup Fails.” The image advertising the game features a large picture of President Obama’s face flanked by the faces of Karl Marx, Hillary Clinton and others, with a menacing looking White House, in visual opposition to a large mass of people, soldiers, stealth bombers, and a US flag. The premise of the game is the following: after most Americans defect from the Democratic Party and vote in a Republican majority in 2011, President Obama steps in and foments a coup to steal back government. He also takes away everyone’s guns. And then the US’s second revolution is launched. In come the online players to fight Obama’s coup. Political commentator David Corn was alerted to the online game and analyzed it’s significance and meaning.
GUEST: David Corn is Washington bureau chief for Mother Jones magazine and the former Washington editor of The Nation magazine for twenty years
