Uprising is a daily radio program, produced at KPFK, Pacifica Radio in Los Angeles. It airs weekdays from 8-9 am PST. A weekly syndicated version of Uprising is available free to all stations.
With the 2008 Presidential Elections less than two months away, new polls reveal a statistical dead heat between the two major party candidates for President. A recent Quinnipac survey conducted in key swing states show Barack Obama and John McCain desperately vying for votes in Ohio, Florida and Michigan. These poll numbers within the two party system that dominates our elections have many independent voters leery of casting a vote in line with their conscience at the ballot box. Voters to the left of Barack Obama’s stated policies may still cast their votes for him out of fear of a McCain presidency and vice versa. Currently without important electoral reforms such as instant run-off voting, the idea of a “vote pact†could be the answer. This method of voting tries to essentially negate the lesser-of-two-evils tactic while undermining the “spoiler†criticism of third party and independent campaigns.
