In fact in this state alone, education cuts over the past two years have totaled $17 billion, leading to many programs being completely axed. Among the first to go is usually arts education. Attempting to fill in the void of arts in public schools, non-profit organizations often step in, offering classes and opportunities to students from low-income families. This month, Ryman Arts, a local non-profit celebrating its 20th year, has organized a series of arts events around the city to encourage Los Angelinos to draw.
