Democratic Senate incumbent Barbara Boxer managed to keep her seat from Republican challenger Carly Fiorina 52.2 to 42.4%. Democrats Debra Bowen, Bill Lockyer, and John Chiang retained their seats as Secretary of State, Treasurer, and Controller respectively. Democrat Kamala Harris beat Republican Steve Cooley by a narrow margin for state Attorney General.
