The charge stems from a shooting incident this past Sunday in Baghdad involving a U.S. State Department motorcade protected by the controversial firm. Iraqi Interior Ministry spokesperson Abdul-Karim Khalaf stated that Blackwater is no longer working in Iraqi territory and that those involved with the incident will be taken to judicial authorities.\u201d The U.S. Embassy asserts that the State Department motorcade had come under fire. Nevertheless, the statements from Iraq\u2019s interior ministry mark the boldest condemnations of the unprecedented number of private guards in Iraq today. Critics of private security firms have long assailed the lack of regulation surrounding their operations. The role of mercenaries in modern warfare is the subject of the new documentary, \u201cShadow Company.\u201d The film analyses the role of mercenaries in Iraq and elsewhere while asking questions of this growing phenomenon.
