While there now exists majority national public support of gay marriage rights, gay adoption is still an issue that most Americans are still warming to. This was the second time the bill was rejected. Currently in Louisiana, only one parent in a same-sex couple can be legally considered their child&#8217;s guardian. Navigating state laws around gay adoption in the country is complicated as there exist patchwork laws, state-by-state, and often even county-by-county. A new book about the experience of one woman&#8217;s journey toward parenthood explores from a personal angle, the terrain that heterosexual couples may take for granted.
