On Wednesday, President Bush began a week-long trip to the Middle East to address the Israeli\u2013 Palestine conflict and Iran. Bush has declared that a peace treaty between Israel and the Palestinian Territories would be signed before the end of his presidential term. While he called on Israel to end the occupation during his trip, many Palestinians are doubtful that he will do much about the ever-expanding Israeli settlements and the restrictions on Palestinians’ movement. During Bush’s visit to the West Bank city of Ramallah yesterday, there was a strict lockdown that included curfews and a ban on public protests. During the earlier part of his trip Bush presented his other focus this week: Iran.
