{"id":24093,"date":"2011-09-20T10:28:49","date_gmt":"2011-09-20T17:28:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/uprisingradio.org\/home\/?p=24093"},"modified":"2011-09-20T10:28:49","modified_gmt":"2011-09-20T17:28:49","slug":"la-times-former-afghan-president-burhanuddin-rabbani-assassinated","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uprisingradio.org\/home\/2011\/09\/20\/la-times-former-afghan-president-burhanuddin-rabbani-assassinated\/","title":{"rendered":"LA Times: Former Afghan President Burhanuddin Rabbani assassinated"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Reporting from Kabul, Afghanistan\u2014 Former Afghan President Burhanuddin Rabbani was killed by a suicide bomber on Tuesday in his home in the capital, the latest in a series of high-profile assassinations to rock the country in recent months.<\/p>\n<p>Rabbani was the head of a government panel set up last year to try to begin negotiations with the Taliban, and his death was seen as a serious blow to those still-nascent efforts.<\/p>\n<p>The bomber, who apparently had explosives concealed in his turban, entered Rabbani&#8217;s home in an upscale Kabul neighborhood on the pretext of visiting him, said Gen.
