In San Francisco 150 people were arrested for blocking traffic and various other acts of civil disobedience throughout the city. In Washington DC thousands of people marched, confronted the IRS, and also blocked traffic, resulting in 60 arrests. This past weekend, thousands of people in Los Angeles gathered in Hollywood to protest the Iraq war. But many community activists here in the Southland have been showing up on street corners in their neighborhoods for 5 years holding signs and keeping their disgust with the war visible. Here on Uprising we\u2019ve been announcing these vigils from the start, and have continued to do so at the urging of listeners. Southern California\u2019s \u201cpeace-vigilers\u201d include teachers, parents, working people, retired people, long-time activists and new activists.
