Booked and released on charges of trespassing, the occupants were removed from California\u2019s only tribal college at the request of the university\u2019s Board of Trustees. According to a spokesperson for the Yolo County Sheriff\u2019s Department, current board members described some of those arrested as \u201csquatters.\u201d However, students and their supporters accuse the Board of Trustees of failing its purpose by not actively seeking re-accreditation. Last week\u2019s episode followed an incident in February when three students were arrested for trespassing on campus grounds. The non-profit Associated Student Body, critical of the current board\u2019s actions, sought applications for a new board yesterday at its pow wow. Founded in 1971, D-Q University has sought to unite indigenous peoples from both sides of the border in the nation\u2019s first indigenously controlled college.
