Patrick O&#8217;Connor, editor and publisher of Crime Magazine, author of &#8220;The Framing of Mumia Abu-Jamal&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The case of Mumia Abu-Jamal has been dissected by supporters and critics alike since the 1981 murder of Philadelphia Police officer Daniel Faulkner for which Abu-Jamal was convicted. The case exposes a deep polarization between those who are convinced he is an innocent and gifted journalist who was framed by a racist justice system, and those who simply dismiss him as a cop killer. Abu-Jamal, arguably the world&#8217;s most famous death row prisoner, was recently in the news when a 3-judge panel of the Third Circuit Court of Appeals threw out the death penalty but left his murder conviction intact. In March, Mumia&#8217;s attorney, Robert R. Bryan told us in an interview that this court decision and a dissenting opinion issued means that he will be seeking a hearing before the entire court of appeals, and that there is a future possibility of taking the case to the Supreme Court. Now, a new book published by Lawrence Hill Books, and written by Crime Magazine editor and publisher J. Patrick O&#8217;Connor, asserts that Mumia Abu-Jamal was in fact framed by the Philadelphia Police Department and District Attorney&#8217;s office.
