Now a high profile campaign has been initiated to improve conditions for workers, communities and the hotel industry in the area. A 2004 study of the cities around LAX &#8211; Hawthorne, Lennox and Inglewood &#8211; found extremely high poverty rates, and a median household income of 25% lower than in L.A. County as a whole.
