Queer Strategies for Resisting Assimilation<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The California Secretary of State announced this Monday that an initiative that would once more outlaw same-sex marriage has qualified for this November&#8217;s ballot. If passed, the measure would amend the state&#8217;s constitution to &#8220;provide that only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.&#8221; It would also overturn a recent ruling by the state Supreme Court which legalized same-sex marriage in this state. <\/p>\n<p>While thousands of couples are lining up to take advantage of the ruling and obtain marriage licenses, not all LGBT activists are celebrating.
