Thirty nine year old Troy Davis, who claims he was innocent, was convicted solely on the testimony of witnesses. There was no physical evidence linking him to the murder, nor was a murder weapon ever found. In fact, 7 of the 9 non-police witnesses who testified ended up recanting their allegations. But just 23 hours before Davis was to be killed by lethal injection, the Georgia State Board of Pardons and Paroles issued a temporary stay of execution amid doubts about Davis&#8217; guilt.  And then Amnesty International published a 35 page report about Davis&#8217; case, increasing national and international public scrutiny and building a movement of people working to gain him a new trial. But now, a new execution date has been set for Troy &#8211; next Tuesday September 23rd.
