{"id":33361,"date":"2013-01-04T08:45:11","date_gmt":"2013-01-04T15:45:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/uprisingradio.org\/home\/?p=33361"},"modified":"2013-01-04T08:45:11","modified_gmt":"2013-01-04T15:45:11","slug":"time-indian-court-to-rule-on-generic-drug-industry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uprisingradio.org\/home\/2013\/01\/04\/time-indian-court-to-rule-on-generic-drug-industry\/","title":{"rendered":"Time: Indian Court to Rule on Generic Drug Industry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(NEW DELHI) \u2014 From Africa\u2018s crowded AIDS clinics to the malarial jungles of Southeast Asia, the lives of millions of ill people in the developing world are hanging in the balance ahead of a legal ruling that will determine whether India\u2018s drug companies can continue to provide cheap versions of many life-saving medicines.<\/p>\n<p>The case \u2014 involving Swiss drug maker Novartis AG\u2019s cancer drug Glivec \u2014 pits aid groups that argue India plays a vital role as the pharmacy to the poor against drug companies that insist they need strong patents to make drug development profitable.
