One Michigan Republican National Committeeman promoted an article\u2019s claim that \u201cpart of the homosexual agenda is to get the public to affirm their filthy lifestyle,\u201d Slate reported Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Dave Agema, a former member of the Michigan House of Representatives, took to his personal Facebook page (only viewable by Agema\u2019s friends) to express his views on the gay and lesbian community, sharing an article titled “Everyone Should Know These Statistics on Homosexuals.”<\/p>\n
In addition to labeling gays and lesbians as \u201cfilthy,\u201d the article — penned by Frank Joseph, M.D. — makes several aggressive accusations against the gay and lesbian community, including pinning homosexuals as child molesters.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause homosexuals can\u2019t reproduce naturally, they resort to recruiting children.\u201d the article adds. \u201cHomosexuals can be heard chanting \u2018TEN PERCENT IS NOT ENOUGH, RECRUIT, RECRUIT, RECRUIT\u2019 in their homosexual parades.\u201d<\/p>\n
Agema has been an outspoken opponent of gay and lesbian rights, voicing his strong opposition to same-sex marriage and domestic partner benefits.<\/p>\n
In 2009, then-State Rep. Agema criticized Michigan Democrats for attempting to overturn Michigan\u2019s 2004 voter-approved ban on same-sex marriage, accusing the lawmakers of \u201csubverting the will of the people.\u201d<\/p>\n
