As the trial of Pfc. Bradley Manning, the soldier who disclosed United States government information to WikiLeaks, enters its fourth week, the world\u2019s focus is on NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden and his travel to Ecuador, where he has requested asylum.<\/p>\n
The developments around Snowden do not diminish the significance of Manning\u2019s trial. If anything, it makes it even more critical to follow.<\/p>\n
With that, here are some notable developments in the trial from last week that people should know as the proceedings resume on Tuesday, June 25.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors Say WikiLeaks\u2019 \u201cMost Wanted List\u201d Shows \u201cKnowledge,\u201d Defense Objects to It Being Entered as Evidence<\/p>\n
Military prosecutors have attempted to have a copy of a 2009 \u201cMost Wanted\u201d list put together by WikiLeaks that the media organization compiled by asking \u201cjournalists, activists, historians, lawyers, police, or human rights investigators\u201d from around the world to submit examples of \u201cconcealed documents or recordings\u201d they would like to see leaked. The copy the prosecutors are trying to introduce was taken off of the \u201cWayback Machine\u201d or Archive.org website and also came from using Google Cache.<\/p>\n
Cpt. Alexander von Elten argued the list would be relevant to the \u201caiding the enemy\u201d charge because Manning may have had \u201cknowledge of WikiLeaks\u2019 plan to compromise classified information.\u201d But, one of Manning\u2019s military defense attorneys, Cpt. Joshua Tooman, contended the evidence should not be allowed to be entered in the court as evidence because there is no proof that Manning ever accessed or saw the list. Manning also is not charged with conspiracy and the reason the prosecutors want to use this in their case is because they think Manning was part of some WikiLeaks conspiracy. As the trial of Pfc.
