Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton had begun urging people to remain calm and not resort to a violent response. <\/p>\n<p>There have been demonstrations in many cities including thousands marching in New York, and hundreds marching in Chicago, Atlanta, Washington, Sacramento, and here in Los Angeles where people gathered in Leimert park and others blocked the 10 freeway.
