Attempting to control the narrative of the explosive controversy over government spying activities, the Obama administration this week voluntarily declassified court orders authorizing a massive phone surveillance program. But the British newspaper, the Guardian, which has access to a trove of documents leaked by NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden, has been one step ahead of Washington, enabling Americans and our Congressional representatives to get an outsiders view of how we are all surveilled, all the time. <\/p>\nAs the Guardian\u2019s revelations on spying programs like PRISM, and XKeyscore continue, the Senate Judiciary Committee this week questioned intelligence officials, attempting to understand exactly how the programs work and their extent, and several Congress members have introduced or are planning to introduce bills toward greater transparency. But, Shahid Buttar says, \u201cmost of them would do nothing to address the recent disclosures.\u201d<\/p>\n
