Twelve years after the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington DC, and one year after an attack on a US Embassy in Benghazi, Libya, a foreign ministry building in Benghazi was partially destroyed by an explosion. The attack is part of an increasing trend of violence targeting Libya\u2019s security forces and judiciary. <em><a href=\" http:\/\/www.globalpost.com\/dispatch\/news\/afp\/130911\/blast-wrecks-govt-office-libyas-benghazi\">Click here<\/a> for a Global Post article on the story.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In New York City, a mayoral candidate championed by unions and progressives, Bill De Blasio, appears to have won the Democratic Party\u2019s primary election, which means he faces Republican candidate Joe Lhota in a general election this fall. <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2013\/sep\/11\/bill-de-blasio-tops-new-york-mayoral-primary\">Click here<\/a> for a Guardian article about the story. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>And, finally, the city of Richmond here in California has just approved a resolution to enable the seizing of properties using \u201ceminent domain\u201d in order to save homes with underwater mortgages and other financial problems. The Richmond city council voted 4-3 to approve a collaboration with the group, Mortgage Resolution Partners, in a move that private mortgage and real estate companies are loudly denouncing.
