Today, the leading cause of workplace related deaths for journalists is murder in the line of work. While the murders of foreign war correspondents like Nils Horner and Daniel Pearl make international headlines, it is often the local journalists who are in even more danger while doing their work. <\/p>\n<p>Now, a new documentary exploring the dangers facing journalists called Killing the Messenger: The Deadly Cost of News, asks survivors of violent attacks and kidnappings to tell their stories directly. Journalists working in the war zones of Iraq and Afghanistan, or the midst of the drug war in Mexico, relate harrowing tales of surviving bombs, sniper fire, days in captivity, and the stories of their fallen fellow journalists. <\/p>\n<p><em>GUESTS: Eric Matthies, Tricia Todd, Directors and producers of Killing the Messenger<\/em><\/p>\n<p>There is a screening of Killing the Messenger on Friday March 14th at 7:30 pm at the LA Center for Photography, 755 Seward Street in Hollywood CA.
