Another night of violence in Ferguson, Missouri, resulted in the fatal police shooting of yet another black man. Twenty five year old Kajieme Powell has been identified hours ago as the victim of a shooting, just a few miles from where Michael Brown was killed. Forty seven people were arrested. <\/p>\n
There is a grand jury convening today to hear evidence for whether or not to charge Wilson in Brown’s death. US Attorney General Eric Holder is also visiting Ferguson. The events of Ferguson are resonating as far away as Vienna, Austria, where the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe criticized how journalists were being treated. The OSCE has 57 member countries including the US. <\/p>\n
There are reports of protesters hurling rocks, bottles, and Molotov cocktails at police. Four officers have apparently been injured as have scores of protesters. Police are enforcing a policy of arresting anyone who stands stationary. In order to avoid arrest, people have to literally keep moving. Police have reportedly switched from tear gas to pepper spray. Schools in Ferguson have been closed for the week. <\/p>\n
There have been many accusations by police of outside agitators coming to Ferguson. But among those outsiders are the hip hop artist Nelly, a holocaust survivor and activist named Hedy Epstein who was actually arrested by police, and a even a group of exiled Tibetan monks. <\/p>\n
