Bakari Kitwana is author of \u00e2\u20ac\u0153The Rap on Gangsta Rap: Who Run It? : Gangsta Rap and Visions of Black Violence,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and the acclaimed \u00e2\u20ac\u0153The Hip Hop Generation: Young Blacks and The Crisis in African American Culture.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d His latest book is \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Why White Kids Love Hip Hop: Wangstas, Wiggers, Wannabes, and the New Reality of Race in America.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d In it he discusses the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153old racial politics\u00e2\u20ac\u009d of the older generation of activists versus the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153new racial politics\u00e2\u20ac\u009d of American youth. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Hip-hop is the last hope for this generation and arguably the last hope for America&#8230; The best remedy for leaving the old racial politics on the pages of history is a successful hip-hop political movement.
