Despite her incarceration she has just written an op-ed in the Guardian newspaper denouncing the secret FISA court system. FISA stands for the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, and the courts that were set up under that act have been used to justify mass surveillance. In her op-ed, Manning wrote, &#8220;we should abolish the entire Fisa Court system and bring all surveillance requests into the oldest and most tested court system in America: the US district courts and courts of appeal.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Manning criticized the USA Freedom Act, which was meant as an antidote to mass surveillance but which leaves in place most of the architecture of spying.
