In \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Speak of Me as I am,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d classically trained opera singer K.B. Solomon pays tribute to Robeson\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s life in song and struggle. Through a riveting narrative of the outspoken artist, the historical stage tribute retraces Robeson\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s courageous political stands and the reactionary repercussions he faced as a result. Strikingly matching the activist\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s signature sound, Solomon&#8217;s rich Basso Profundo voice soulfully recreates twenty-one songs in the production, most of which were recorded by Robeson himself. This weekend\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s performances of \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Speak of Me as I am,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d are part of a Christmas Benefit for the Peace and Justice Pantry. Proceeds from the shows will fund a joint project between Venice Food Not Bombs and the Venice United Methodist Church to bring food to the needy.<\/p>\n<p><em>GUEST: KB Solomon, actor and singer appearing in &#8220;Speak of Me As I Am&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>There will be two performances of Speak of Me As I Am on Friday 12\/19 at 8 pm and Sunday 12\/21 at 3 pm at the Peace and Justice Hall, Venice United Methodist Church, 2210 Lincoln Blvd, Venice CA 90291.
