California Secretary of State Challenges Diebold Machines to be Hacked<\/strong>

\"Black<\/a>Recently the California Secretary of State invited the watchdog group Black Box Voting<\/a> to test Diebold corporation’s voting machines. Diebold Corporation is notorious for its efforts to squelch the publication of documents indicating serious flaws in its electronic voting systems. The testing protocol which Black Box Voting was invited to, required that no members of the public or the media could attend, neither could any video or other records be kept. The testing was set for yesterday, November 30th. <\/p>\n

Robin Lovitt Wins Clemency<\/strong>

\"RobinRobin Lovitt who would have been the 1000th prisoner to be executed since the Supreme Court reinstated capital punishment in 1976. Instead his sentence was commuted to life in prison without parole this week. Lovitt was convicted for stabbing a man to death with a pair of scissors during a 1988 pool hall robbery. Citing that evidence from his trial had been \u00e2\u20ac\u0153improperly destroyed\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Virginia’s newly elected governor, Mark Warner, commuted Lovitt’s death sentence. Over the past 28 years, the U.S. has executed one person every 10 days on average. On December 13th Nobel prize nominee Stanley “Tookie” Williams is due to be executed in California, unless Arnold Schwarzenegger grants clemency. <\/p>\n
