These days the so-called American Dream, more closely resembles a nightmare. Americans are struggling with unemployment, stagnating wages, job insecurity, falling housing prices, rising gas and food prices, poor health coverage, rising debt, and the un-ending war in Iraq that has claimed the lives of thousands. Congress and the President are facing record low approval ratings by people across the political spectrum. Has all this discontent led to any major popular revolts? Not if you read the corporate media. But political organizer and nationally syndicated columnist David Sirota has a new book out called “The Uprising,” detailing what he says are serious indications of revolts nationwide, that have the potential to turn into real social movements for change.<\/p>\n

David Sirota is a a senior fellow at the Campaign for America’s Future and founder of the “Progressive States Network.” He is also a nationally syndicated newspaper columnist, whose earlier book Hostile Takeover, was a New York Times Bestseller. His new book is called “The Uprising: An Unauthorized Tour of the Populist Revolt Scaring Wall Street and Washington.” I spoke recently with David during his book tour. <\/p>\n
