<\/a>Upland Mayor John Pomierski has promised to put the issue of day laborers gathering outside a local Home Depot on his city council\u2019s agenda. The mayor of this Inland Empire city made his statement after a member of the Minuteman Project from Orange County and a local Upland resident brought it up on Monday\u2019s city council meeting. The mayor and other council members are reportedly interested in a Lake Forest style ordinance that would allow for businesses such as Home Depot to be able call police to remove day laborers as \u201cloiterers.\u201d Such repressive ordinances have been a major focus of groups like the National Day Laborer Organizing Network. Founded in 2001, the group has committed itself to using various means of defending the rights of day laborers. To benefit NDLON\u2019s new media research project \u201cJornaleras Presente,\u201d and Cimarron Productions\u2019 independent community center for communications, a fund raising concert is being held tonight at the Echoplex. The Grammy award winning band Ozomatli will be headlining the event performing alongside bands like Little Bastards and Wait-Think-Fast. <\/p>\n
