With the help of Simon, Juliette learns to cope with her horrific recollections of the genocide through writing. In turn, Simon is motivated as a writer once more through their burgeoning friendship. Sonja Linden was inspired to write the play after her experiences as a writer in residence at the Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims and Torture where she encountered many young Rwandan refuges.  In 2003, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Young Lady from Rwanda,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d successfully premiered in London.
