FCC Chair and Republican Party member Kevin J. Martin has recently launched a formal review of media ownership rules. Martin favors the loosening of newspaper-broadcast cross-ownership rules. Addressing these issues, the town-hall meeting will feature panel discussions on diversity in entertainment and cross-ownership rules and will be free and open to the public. Members of the community who are concerned about further media consolidation are encouraged to attend and participate. In addition, there will be a series of preparatory media workshops in the days leading up to the town-hall meeting. Congresswomen Hilda Solis and Diane Watson, and FCC commissioners Jonathan Adelstein and Michael Copps will be present for the community dialogue on media ownership.
