Running until October 31st, at Le Florence Gallery in the historic Lucy Florence Coffee House and Gallery in Leimert Park, explores the theme of \u00e2\u20ac\u0153homeland.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d The exhibit is curated by Betty Marin, Brenda Zamora, Samira Yamin, and Pilar Castillo. Stomping Ground will feature various media including drawing, painting, sculpture, installation, video, performance, poetry, poetry\/essays and music. The show\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s theme of \u00e2\u20ac\u0153homeland,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d is an attempt to come to terms with a concept that has become charged with fear and insecurity in the five years since 9\/11. For the exhibiting artists, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153homeland,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d is much more complex and includes subjects such as migration, culture, and family. Exhibit pieces on display also explore topics such as Hurricane Katrina and the recent and historic immigration rights marches. <\/p>\n<p>Stomping Ground: Young Women of Color Explore Homeland is showing from September 9th &#8211; October 31st at the Lucy Florence Coffee House and Art Gallery. Lucy Florence is located at 3551 W 43rd Street, Leimert Park, in Los Angeles. For more information, call 323-293-1356.
