Eskridge, whose new book is &#8220;Gay Marriage: For Better or for Worse? What We&#8217;ve Learned from the Evidence.&#8221; In the book, Eskridge and his co-author Darren R. Spedale, look to Scandinavia for empirical evidence about the benefits of same-sex marriage. Gay couples in Scandinavia have had the right to marry since 1989. Eskridge is the John A.
