The hearing is the first part of another effort to rewrite ownership rules that could create greater monopolies in the country&#8217;s media landscape. The FCC&#8217;s last battle over media ownership drew a record outpouring of public comments to the agency. <\/p>\n<p>Ben Bagdikian&#8217;s ground breaking book &#8220;The Media Monopoly&#8221; published in 1983, has served as a bible for students of media-industry concentration. In it, he predicted that a small handful of media corporations would own the majority of our media outlets. That prediction has come dangerously true.
