This 12-term incumbent is not facing a Republican &#8211; he&#8217;s facing Green Party candidate Byron De Lear. De Lear has publicized a platform based on a withdrawal from Iraq, universal health care, raising the minimum wage, and other progressive issues. He claims that if he were to win next Tuesday he has pledged to vote for Democratic control of the House if the Democrats come up short by one to make a majority in the House. Democratic Representative Howard Berman has voted in step with the Republican Party on most issues regarding the war on Iraq.
