Eric Drooker The Murder of John Lennon

Back in the day on December 8th 1980, musician John Lennon was murdered by Mark David Chapman. The former member of the Beatles was pronounced dead on arrival after sustaining four gun shot wounds just outside of his home in New York. Chapman’s actions robbed the music world of one of its most influential artists whose humanist anthems included, “Working Class Hero,” “Imagine,” and “Give Peace a Chance.” In addition to his songs, Lennon used his standing as a popular musician to advance social causes he believed in. He spoke out against the Vietnam War and criticized President Nixon. Tricky Dick responded by issuing a deportation order for the British born Lennon. The FBI also investigated his activities in more than 300 pages of files.

Lennon subjected himself and his career to such harassment even though he didn’t have to and for that he will always be remembered on this day.
