A San Francisco based group, South Asian Sisters collected stories from South Asian women from all over the US over the last three years on the topics of gender, sexuality and the vagina. They have compiled the stories with a South Asian twist on Eve Ensler’s Vagina Monologues, to create a performance piece called Yoni Ki Baat. Yoni Ki Baat has been performed in Oakland to raise funds for a domestic violence organization, and this weekend, it comes to LA. Yoni Ki Baat, directed by Shishir Kurup, will be performed on Saturday at 7 pm and Sunday at 2 pm at the Center for the Preservation of Democracy. Proceeds will benefit a project of the South Asian Network called “Awaz - Voices Against Violence” which addresses violence against women and girls. This performance is in English.
Performances will be at the Center for the Preservation of Democracy, located at 111 N. Central Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90012.
