Naked Imperialism
GUEST: John Bellamy Foster, Co-Editor of Monthly Review, author of “The Vulnerable Planet,” “Marx’s Ecology,” and the forthcoming “Naked Imperialism.”

John Bellamy FosterAnti-war mother, Cindy Sheehan returned to Crawford, Texas this past Thanksgiving Day to continue her efforts in protesting the war in Iraq. As the Bush family dined a few miles away, more than a hundred protestors gathered and ate a traditional Iraqi meal of salmon, lentils and rice with almonds. Sheehan and others plan to return to Crawford to continue their anti-war protests when Bush returns for the Easter holiday. In other recent anti-war efforts, a Stop the War Conference was held locally at Manual Arts High School in Los Angeles on November 19th. The event hosted speakers and guests such as Uprising’s Sonali Kolhatkar, Barbara Trent, and John Bellamy Foster. Sonali had the opportunity to speak with Foster at the event. He is the Co-Editor of Monthly Review, author of “The Vulnerable Planet,” “Marx’s Ecology,” and the forthcoming “Naked Imperialism.” Foster believes that the peace movement has to think beyond Iraq and needs to create a “permanent” peace movement.

We present first the speech given by John Bellamy Foster at the Stop the War Conference, followed by an interview.
