A Tribute to Coretta Scott King
Civil rights activist Coretta Scott King died yesterday at the age of 78. King was seeking treatment for advanced ovarian cancer at an alternative medicine clinic in Mexico, when doctors said she died due to respiratory failure. Her body arrived in Atlanta early this morning, but funeral arrangements have yet to be announced. Coretta Scott King, widow of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., carried on with his civil rights work after his assassination in 1968. In memoriam, we bring to you an exclusive from the Pacifica radio archives. Here is Coretta Scott King delivering a speech at the 27th peace march in New York originally broadcasted by KPFA in the weeks following the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King.
Special thanks to the Pacifica Radio Archives.
