Artists Come Together for Earthquake Survivors
GUESTS: Sheila Govindarajan, concert planner and musician, Talal Ansary, grassroots coordinator of Kashmir Earthquake Relief, and Anjali Nath, volunteer at Kashmir Earthquake Relief.
Artists and musicians in Los Angeles will hold a concert next Friday at the Temple Bar in Santa Monica, to benefit South Asian Earthquake victims. This evening show, called SAHARA, will feature prominent Los Angeles
performers DJ Drez, Mataji Booker, Black Shakespeare, and Jeremy Sole.
The October 8th 2005 earthquake devastated parts of Pakistan and Northern India, killed at least seventy five thousand people, and affected millions. Many of the survivors are from steep moutainous regions, making relief efforts difficult particular during the winter.
Proceeds will benefit Kashmir Earthquake Relief, a Los Angeles-based
non-profit organization working to continue relief and reconstruction efforts in affected areas.
The benefit will be on Friday, February 17th 2005 at the Temple Bar located at 1026 Wilshire Blvd, Santa Monica, California at 8 am. For updates and information on SAHARA at the temple bar, please visit www.myspace.com/kashmirearthquakerelief or email kashmirsahara@yahoo.com.
