Actor/Activist Mike Farrell Speaks out on Morales
We interrupt our fund drive programming to bring you an interview with actor and activist Mike Farrell on the case of death row inmate Michael Morales. Two hours before his scheduled execution on Tuesday night, the State of California postponed killing Michael Morales, who was convicted of a rape and murder by coerced testimony. Morales had legally challenged the use of lethal injection as a form of “cruel and unusual punishment.”
Uprising interviewed death penalty activist Mike Farrell on Wednesday (02/22) to explain the latest situation in Morales’ case and its significance in the anti-death penalty movement. Many of you remember Mike Farrell as playing Captain Hunnicut in the hit 1970s TV series, M*A*S*H. But these days Farrell makes news as an ardent opponent of the death penalty. He is a member of Death Penalty Focus, a non-profit organization dedicated to the abolition of capital punishment through “grassroots organizing, research, and the dissemination of information about the death penalty and its alternatives.”
