Peter Camejo Visits the Farm
GUEST: Peter Camejo, Green Party Vice Presidential Candidate 2000, Independent Vice Presidential Candidate in 2004, gubernatorial candidate for California
The March 1st eviction noticed posted at the South Central Farm on 41st and Alameda Street has been stayed until at least March 13th. The stay comes as several South Central farmers have filed a form claiming the right of possession of the 14 acre farm. In related news, the real estate developer in question, Ralph Horowitz is suing the 350 families that farm the land for about $730,000, claiming that they have “abused the legal system.†Protestors gathered outside Horowitz’s gated community in Brentwood on Wednesday night and vowed to continue efforts throughout the week to pressure Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Los Angeles City Council members to save the farm.
There will be protests against the eviction of the South Central Farmers:
Thursday March 9th, at 7 pm near the Mayoral Mansion at 605 S Irving Blvd, near the corner of Wilshire and Crenshaw.
Friday March 10th at 9 am, at the LA City Council Meeting, at the City Hall, 200 N. Spring Street.
