A Democrat Tries to “Take Back the House”
GUEST: Bob McCloskey, labor activist, running for Democratic nomination for 29th Congressional District
Bob McCloskey, a 55 year old life-long resident of the Los Angeles area, is seeking the Democratic Party nomination for the 29th Congressional District seat. As the sole challenger to fellow Democrat Adam Schiff in the primary election, McCloskey believes that based on their votes, certain Democratic Party legislators, Schiff among them, bear responsibilities for the consequences of Bush’s war on Iraq. As a long time peace activist, McCloskey’s platform calls for the withdraw of US forces from Iraq. Domestically, he stands for national health insurance based on a single payer model. As a twenty-year labor activist, he calls for economic justice through a living wage for all work. Bob McCloskey’s campaign has been endorsed by Reverend James Lawson, Tom Hayden, the Progressive Democrats of America, and others.
