Links Between Lebanon and Iraq

Israel’s Security Cabinet today approved a wider ground war on south Lebanon, despite an imminent vote on a UN Security Council resolution on the conflict. Last night Al Jazeera reported that Hezbollah had killed 11 Israeli soldiers in South Lebanon. Currently, 10,000 Israeli troops are fighting within a four-mile stretch from the frontier. Meanwhile violence in Iraq continues. About 1,800 people were killed across Iraq in the month of July alone. Yesterday six Iraqis were killed and 17 wounded when a residential building was blown up in central Baquba near Baghdad. Five homemade bombs and a bank robbery left 24 people dead in Baghdad on Tuesday. The Israeli assault on Lebanon has diverted most media attention away from Iraq despite no abatement in the violence in Iraq. Some commentators say that Washington now regards the Lebanon war as central to the whole global war on terror.

Does anyone know the name of the report put out by the Neo-Con thinktank, called something like “New American Century”

They talked about it on the show today.

    Thanks!
