The Law Bush Ignores: Crimes Against Peace are Punishable by Death
This month marks the 60th anniversary of the judgment at Nuremberg, Germany, when a dozen surviving Nazis were sentenced to death for crimes against humanity, war crimes, or crimes against peace, before and during World War Two. It was the beginning of modern interpretations of the scope of international law, and the obligations of both nations and individuals to respect that law.
The United States was firmly behind the Nuremberg trials of Nazis, and was also eager to punish the Japanese for crimes against civilians, soldiers, and world peace. The Americans put top Japanese military commanders and most of the Tokyo government’s cabinet on trial – and ultimately executed seven of them. The U.S. based its decision on the 1945 Potsdam agreement with Britain and the Soviet Union, which called for prosecution of those who had “deceived and misled” the Japanese people into war. Such deception was deemed a crime against peace, for which politicians and military men could be made to pay with their lives.
And here we are today, 60 years after the Nuremberg trials. The United States is ruled by a regime that wages war against peace as a matter of national policy. George Bush and his henchmen proclaim proudly their determination to commit acts of so-called preventive warfare – crimes that were considered punishable by death when committed by Nazi and Japanese military commanders and politicians.
The indictment that fits the crimes of George Bush and his Pirates was introduced into international law 60 years ago. In a just world, Bush and his crew would plead for mercy before an international court. After all, the Bush regime’s deceptions and lies leading to war against Iraq are even better evidence for an international tribunal than similar evidence at Nuremberg against Hitler’s political and military henchmen. George Bush sent Secretary of State Colin Powell into the United Nations in an attempt to deceive and mislead the entire world about U.S. reasons for war. Bush himself addressed the UN General Assembly with a laundry list of lies and deceptions in September of 2002, creating the false rationale for the later invasion of Iraq. His regime’s crimes are a matter of international record, and should be judged by the International Criminal Court.
But Bush does not recognize the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court. He and his Pirate crew have nothing but contempt for international law, itself – or for the U.S. Constitution, as interpreted by the U.S. Supreme Court. Bush this week made misleading and deceptive noises about respecting the Geneva Convention on treatment of prisoners – and then immediately demanded that the U.S. Congress give immunity to Americans who have violated both international law AND the U.S. War Crimes Act. He might as well have been immunizing himself.
When a government elected by the people of its nation commits horrendous war crimes, crimes against humanity, and crimes against peace, and that government is not rejected by the people of that nation, it is no wonder that much of humanity will hold the entire nation and people responsible for the crimes of its leaders. This is something to think long and hard about on the 60th anniversary of the Nuremberg trials. For Black Agenda Radio, I’m Glen Ford.

A very timely commentary, cogently written and provocative; although its message may not hit home now, there shall come a day when it will!
Brother i feel “deceived and misled” although i am not aware of any actual deception or lie on anyone’s part. I assumed you would be with the BlackCommentator as long as it existed. I do not know why you left. What i do know is that i feel like a child whose parents divorced without explaining to the child what was going on. I happen to stumble across an article in a newspaper i, by chance, picked up that told of your departure. Wow!
12,000 people died in Katrian, not 1000. The adminstration knows this and keeps the information suppressed.
What is need is an in debth invetigation.

Barack Obama shows his birth certificate (BC) on his website and he asserts his legal name is Barack Hussein Obama II. http://my.barackobama.com/page/invite/birthcert
There is now evidence indicating that his actual valid BC on file in Hawaii says his legal name is Barry Soetoro. Republicans have this document http://tinyurl.com/63ph5e. They will show it after the convention to defeat him in the election. His original BC, presumably in the name Barack Hussein Obama II, was sealed when his Indonesian stepfather, Lolo Soetoro, adopted him.
It appears the BC on his website is a fake because he wants to hide his Indonesian identity, Muslim background and avoid observing Article II of the U.S. Constitution, which prohibits dual-citizenship for POTUS.
Barry Soetoro started using the name “Obama” sometime in the 70’s but researchers have been unable to locate the public record showing that Barry Soetoro legally changed his name back to Barack Obama.
He might have used his original BC (the one that was sealed) with the name “Obama” as an identity document over the years. However, no one has been able to determine that the name “Obama” is his official legal name. If he used “Obama” to sign his candidacy papers for President and it is not his legal name, it could pose a serious problem for his candidacy, and stand in violation of several election-related laws.

The AP caption reads: “This registration document, made available on Jan. 24, 2007, by the Fransiskus Assisi school in Jakarta, Indonesia, shows the registration of Barack Obama under the name Barry Soetoro into the Catholic school made by his step-father, Lolo Soetoro. The document lists Barry Soetoro as a Indonesian citizen, born on August 4, 1961 in Honolulu, and shows his Muslim step-father listed the boy’s religion as Islam. (AP Photo/ Tatan Syuflana)”
What It Means
This AP photo is compelling evidence of the following assertions, which have been set forth on this blog:
1. Barack Obama had Indonesian citizenship
2. Barack Obama had the legal name Barry Soetoro
3. Barack Obama was a Muslim, despite his “fight the smears” claim that he never has been. (see new story that we just posted on this topic).
In addition, it means that Barack Obama apparently lied to the Illinois Supreme Court when asked to provide former names, according to this Attorney’s Registration Record:
