Camp DemocracyGUESTS: Vicenta Montoya, National Immigration Coordinator for the Progressive Democrats of America and the member of the National Immigration Solidarity Network, Joe Hatcher, Iraq Veterans Against the War

A year ago Cindy Sheehan, whose son Casey was killed in Iraq, set up camp in Crawford, Texas, near President Bush’s ranch to protest the war in Iraq. The camp gained mainstream media attention and thousands flocked to Crawford. This year, on September 5th, Camp Casey moved from Crawford, Texas, to Washington, D.C., to create a larger camp with a broader agenda of ending US wars abroad and injustices here at home, while holding the Bush administration and Congress accountable. The camp is beng held between the National mall and Constitution Avenue, and between 14 and 15 Streets. There will be workshops, training, panels, and more on everything from impeachment to immigration. Speakers include Howard Zinn, Rahul Mahajan, Stephen Zunes, Antonia Juhasz, Ann Wright, Arun Gandhi, Glen Ford, and others.
