Beit HanounGUEST: Malak Khaled, pre-school teacher and young activist in Lebanon, visiting the US

Israeli jets violated Lebanese airspace this morning, flying over the coastal town of Naqura, headquarters of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (Unifil). France, which currently heads Unifil, had summoned the Israeli Ambassador in Paris to protest Israeli warplanes diving on French peacekeepers in the south. Israel has been strongly criticized internationally for continuing such overflights despite the August 14 truce which officially ended its devastating month-long war with Lebanon. The Israeli Defense Minister Amir Peretz has said the overflights were necessary to monitor what he claims is continued weapons smuggling by Hezbollah. Meanwhile, Israeli ground forces pulled out of Beit Hanoun in the Palestinian Occupied Territories on Tuesday after a week-long incursion that killed over 50 Palestinians.

Malak Khaled will be speaking on Thursday November 9th at 7 pm at the Orange Grove Friends Meeting House on the corner of Orange Grove and Los Robles in Pasadena. For more information, visit www.mepeacela.org.
