GCC/IBTGUEST: Marty Keegan, Organizer with GCC/IBT (Graphics Communications Conference with the International Brotherhood of the Teamsters)

The Teamsters Union is attempting to organize workers in the Press room of the Los Angeles Times. The Times’ new publisher David Hillier, is openly anti-union and has begun organizing against the Teamsters by taking to the internet. On unionfree.com/latimes, Hillier tells employees that the site is to “help you have all of the facts regarding Union representation” and then urges a no vote on the union. There have been numerous attempts over the years to unionize the LA Times’ press room. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Times has attracted reported interest from such local billionaires as supermarket tycoon Ron Burkle and Hollywood heavyweight David Geffen.

The LA Times’ management has a website at unionfree.com/latimes.

The union, GCC/IBT has websites at www.saveourtrade.com and www.gciu.org.
