GUEST: Jim Motavalli, Editor of E/The Environmental Magazine

With the new year around the corner, we end today’s show taking a look at the state of the planet’s environment. Among the coverage we’ve done on Uprising this year has been the British Stern report on the economic impact of climate change, a look at whether this summer’s record breaking heat waves were a result of climate change, California’s clean diesel initiative, environmental degradation in New Orleans as a result of Katrina, mercury in fish, suspicious shrimp, the effects of industrial pollution on mothers and children, the 20th anniversary of Chernobyl, the UN Convention on Biological Diversity and more. We end our 2006 programming on Uprising with a wrap-up of the biggest environmental news of 2006.
