Media Reform Activists Convene in Memphis

The third conference on Media Reform by the group, Free Press will convene this Friday January 12th in Memphis, Tennessee. The conference will attract activists, media makers, educators, journalists, policymakers and concerned citizens. A total of 2,500 people are expected to attend. The list of speakers includes many luminaries including journalists Helen Thomas, Bill Moyers, Amy Goodman, Deepa Fernandes, and Davey D, analysts like Ben Bagdikian, Jeff Cohen, and Norman Solomon, and actors Danny Glover, Jane Fonda, and Geena Davis. The conference aims to cover 5 main topics: 1. Media Policy, 2. Media Literacy, Critique & Accountability, 3. Independent & Noncommercial Media, 4. Civil Rights, Social Justice & Media, and 5. Media Reform Activism.
